Welcome to my blog, where I share my personal experiences and discoveries when it comes to specialty coffee and travel. Today, I want to take you on a journey to tropical destinations where you can enjoy the perfect combination of sandy beaches and amazing specialty coffee.
First on our list is Bali, Indonesia. This beautiful island is not only known for its stunning beaches but also for its unique coffee. Bali coffee, also known as Kopi Luwak, is made from beans that have been eaten and then excreted by a civet cat. While this may sound crazy and unusual, the result is a smooth and delicious coffee that is highly sought after by coffee enthusiasts.
You can find specialty coffee shops that serve Bali coffee all over the island, but for the ultimate experience, I recommend visiting a coffee plantation and trying it fresh.
Next up is Puerto Rico, a Caribbean island that is famous for its beaches, salsa music, and amazing coffee. Puerto Rican coffee is grown in the mountainous regions of the island, where the soil and climate create the perfect conditions for specialty coffee.
One of my favorite coffee shops in Puerto Rico is Café Don Ruiz, located in the picturesque town of Ponce. The shop not only serves amazing coffee but also offers tours of their coffee farm and production facilities.
Moving on to Costa Rica, a country that is known for its eco-tourism and sustainability efforts. Costa Rican coffee is grown in the fertile volcanic soils of the Central Valley, where the high altitude and cool temperatures create a unique flavor profile.
One of the most surprising coffee experiences I had in Costa Rica was at Café Britt, where I learned about the different roasting techniques used to bring out the best flavors in their specialty coffee. They even had a coffee roasting simulator that allowed me to try my hand at roasting my own beans!
Last but not least, we have Hawaii, the land of surfing, hula, and amazing Kona coffee. The Kona region of Hawaii is famous for its unique coffee, which is grown in the rich volcanic soil and shaded by macadamia nut trees.
One of the craziest experiences I had in Hawaii was at a coffee farm that offered a tour of their facilities via zipline! Not only did I get to taste some amazing coffee, but I also got an adrenaline rush as I flew over the coffee trees.
If you’re a coffee lover who also enjoys tropical destinations, these specialty coffee shops and experiences are not to be missed. From Bali to Hawaii, there are plenty of crazy and unusual experiences waiting for you on your next adventure. So pack your bags, grab your sunscreen, and get ready to sip some amazing coffee while enjoying the beauty of the tropics.
The moral of the story is that you can find amazing coffee all over the world, even in the most unexpected places. So, if you’re looking for a unique and unforgettable coffee experience, don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and explore new destinations. You might just find your new favorite coffee spot.
