Hello, coffee lovers! Today I want to talk to you about a very serious issue that affects millions of people around the world: the use of Comic Sans on coffee shop menus. Yes, you heard me right. Comic Sans, the font that was designed for children’s books and comic strips, not for professional and elegant communication. The font that makes you look like you don’t care about your business, your customers, or your coffee. The font that should never be used on anything, ever.
Why am I so passionate about this topic? Well, let me tell you a story. A few weeks ago, I was walking down the street, looking for a place to get my morning caffeine fix. I saw a new coffee shop that looked promising: it had a nice logo, a cozy atmosphere, and a sign that said “Best Coffee in Town”. I decided to give it a try and walked in.
As soon as I entered, I felt something was wrong. The music was too loud, the staff was too busy chatting with each other, and the smell of burnt coffee was in the air. But I decided to ignore these red flags and approached the counter. That’s when I saw it: the menu.
It was written in Comic Sans.
I couldn’t believe my eyes. How could they do this? How could they ruin their reputation with such a terrible choice of font? How could they disrespect their customers with such a childish and unprofessional design? How could they expect me to take them seriously as a coffee shop?
I felt a surge of anger and disappointment. I turned around and walked out without ordering anything. I vowed never to return to that place again. And I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way.
So, dear coffee shop owners, please listen to me: never use Comic Sans on your menu. It’s not funny, it’s not cute, it’s not cool. It’s just bad. It makes you look like you don’t know what you’re doing. It makes your customers lose trust in you. It makes your coffee taste worse.
If you want to attract and retain customers, you need to use a font that reflects your brand identity and values. You need to use a font that is clear, elegant, and professional. You need to use a font that shows you care about your coffee and your customers.
There are many fonts out there that can do this for you. Some of my favorites are Helvetica, Arial, Times New Roman, Georgia, and Calibri. They are simple, classic, and versatile. They work well for any type of coffee shop, whether it’s modern or traditional, casual or formal, hipster or mainstream.
But whatever font you choose, please make sure it’s not Comic Sans. Trust me, you’ll thank me later.
That’s all for today, folks.
